According to a Turkish government-linked daily newspaper Yeni Şafak, the U.S. plan of action in Idlib province failed after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) leader Hashem al-Shaikh declared that the group is ready to dissolve itself.

The article, published in the Turkish daily, pointed out that the U.S. can no longer justify its intervention in Syria by fighting HTS, which is considered a branch of al-Qaeda by Washington.

Despite being one of the U.S. mains partners in the Middle East and a NATO member, Turkey openly protested U.S. actions in Northern Syria, especially support of Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces.
