A Turkish military delegation has arrived to Darat al-Izza town in Aleppo province, which is held currently held by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group.
It is believed that the Turkish military will inspect the neighboring Afrin region, controlled by Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), which is considered a branch of Kurdistan Workers’ Party by the Turkish authorities.
HTS has not commented on the situation yet. According to the group’s spokesperson Imad al-Din al-Mujahid, the visit of the Turkish delegation is considered “unofficial”.
The visit comes after the recent clashes between the Turkish army and HTS, that occurred on the Syria-Turkey border. Last Friday HTS militants destroyed a Turkish crane that was removing a part of the border wall. On Sunday, Oct 8th, the militants targeted a bulldozer that was sent to evacuate the crane.
