TURKEY-TRAINED ‘FREE POLICE’ START OPERATING IN N.SYRIA

Ankara deepens its influence in northern Syria, where a new Syrian police force units trained and equipped by Turkey started its work in the areas freed from ISIS.

These units are called “Free Police” in reference to the Free Syrian Army (FSA) alliance which Turkey supported during ‘Euphrates Shield’ operation against the Islamic State. Most of the first ‘Free Police’ recruits are former rebels. The base is located in newly opened police station in the border city Jarablus.
