U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIS, Brett McGurk, tweeted on Wednesday (May 24) saying that SDF fighters were now just three kilometers outside of the city of Raqqa.
The SDF combatants struck heavily ISIS positions and seized control over Ahmad Assad Silos located some 40km East of Raqqa city after hours of clashing.
Dijwar Xebat, a commander for the YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said: “The Wrath of Euphrates fighters have liberated a 30 kilometer area in 3 days, cut off the Raqqa-Deir Ezzor road and reached the Euphrates.”
