The Syrian army units, supported by popular militias, are making huge progress in the ISIS-held city of Al-Mayadin in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor.
The government troops established control over Al-Baluum and Al-Balout districts and entered the industrial zone. Several buildings were re-captured, including an electricity plant and a school.
The offensive is carried out from two directions: the first runs from the desert south of Al-Mayadin to Tel Al-Shbali and Al-Shaher poultry farm, while the second connects the Artillery district with al-Balout crossroads at the outskirts of the city.
The achieved progress allowed the Syrian troops to cut ISIS supply routes and deploy snipers along the road which connects Al-Mayadin to Abu Kamal, one of the last ISIS strongholds in Deir Ezzor.
