Massive destruction appears on photos of Raqqa, that were published by activists on social media.
The pictures taken from the sky show abandoned districts and entire buildings destroyed in the ISIS-held city.
According to the UN, between 50 000 and 100 000 civilians are still trapped in Raqqa under constant risk of death from US-led coalition air strikes or the Syrian Democratic Forces shelling. Furthermore, the ISIS terrorists banned civilians from leaving the city under the threat of execution. Despite massive civilian casualties, the US rejected a UN urge to enforce a humanitarian pause in Raqqa offensive.
The coalition has acknowledged 484 civilian deaths since the beginning of the Inherent Resolve operation in Syria and Iraq. However, independent observers put the death toll much higher, at more than five thousand people.
