The militants of People’s Protection Units (YPG) have arrested the leader of Kataib al-Bakara militia, Yaser Dahla, and a number of his supporters in Al-Shadadi, Deir Ezzor province.
Is is reported that YPG has informed Dahla about an urgent meeting and insisted on his participation. When he arrived to the place of the meeting with his supporters, they were detained by YPG members.
Kataib al-Bakara have been fighting ISIS in northern areas of Deir Ezzor province within the ranks of Syrian Democratic Forces, which also include YPG. Before Dahla’s arrest, his unit has achieved considerable progress and advanced towards the city of Deir Ezzor with support from the International Coalition.
According to local activists, the reason behind Dahla’s detention is the YPG intent to curb the influence of Arab militias in the area.
