JAYSH AL-ISLAM CALLS FOR PRESSURE ON RUSSIA

Jaysh al-Islam group called international mediators to put additional pressure on Russia to force its ally, the Syrian government, to abide by the “de-escalation zone” agreement in Eastern Ghouta.

According to the statement, published by Jaysh al-Islam, the Syrian troops continue to attack the group in the neighborhoods of Ghouta despite the fact that the militants have been observing the agreement.

The so-called “de-escalation zones” were established in Syria as a result of negotiations mediated by Russia, Turkey and Iran. Besides Eastern Ghouta, the zones cover the provinces of Aleppo, Idlib, Homs, Hama as well as the areas on the Syrian-Jordanian border.
