FSA FACTIONS ABANDON BORDER AREAS IN DAMASCUS PROVINCE

The government troops expanded their zone of control on the Syria-Jordan border in Damascus province as the Free Syrian Army groups completely abandoned the area.

The area, including all fortified positions and strategic heights, fell under control of the Syrian army and popular militias.

The SAA advances were confirmed by sources inside the opposition armed groups active in the area. The offensive has reduces the FSA presence in the Syrian desert to Al-Tanf base, located on the border with Iraq and used by the US-backed International Coalition.

Previously the Syrian army has secured the border with Jordan in Suwayda province, forcing the militants to retreat to the Jordanian soil.
