The Syrian Democratic Forces will not participate in the offensive on Deir Ezzor, which should be liberated by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), according to sources in the US-led international coalition.
The sources reported that the government troops should expel ISIS militants from their last stronghold, breaking the nearly three-year long siege and establishing control over the city. Only after that the coalition and its allies will be able to proceed with military actions.
The Syrian army continues to advance towards Deir Ezzor despite stiff ISIS resistance. The SAA has recently liberated the strategically important Syriatel hill and ran over a number of ISIS positions east of Sukhnah.
