The SAA advance towards the border with Jordan caused concern among the militants who started to leave the area, following the US-led coalition troops who have withdrawn from Zakaf base and headed to al-Tanf.
In the last three days the Syrian army has established control over a dozen of checkpoints on the Jordanian border without meeting any resistance from the armed groups active in the area. The SAA have also captured Al-Bweib well and Kherbet al-Hajaj situated 34 miles from Rukban camp, which also serves as a crossing point and a base for the militants.
Despite their promises to stay in the area, the militants retreated from the vicinity of Al-Rukban towards Jordan. It is believed that the armed groups were influenced by Military Operation Center (MOC) which has demanded them to leave the area.
