Mass media reports say Russia is ready to deploy new special operations units to Syria after the official request of the Syria’s president Bashar Assad.

However, the Russia didn’t make any official announcements on this issue. Nevertheless, reports say the Kremlin works on the possibility of sending special units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia (search and rescue teams, a special communication and information security center, psychological counseling center) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Combating Extremism on Migration Issues State Institutions), as well as engineering and medical units of the Russian Armed Forces.

These units are expected to run maintaining peace, law and order missions in the government-controlled areas, provide humanitarian aid, medical, psychological, and legal assistance to the locals.
