Activists in Idlib said Hayat Tahrir al Sham group is not responsible for deadly attack in Damascus on Sunday and Wednesday.
Radical group’ representatives also told they are targeting only ‘military objects of Assad regime and Shia mercenaries’.
Syrian state television said 40 people were killed and 120 wounded by “two bombs detonated by terrorists”, while Iraq’s foreign ministry said 40 of its nationals had died.
On Saturday scores of people, most of them Iraqi Shi’ite pilgrims, were killed in a double suicide attack in Damascus claimed by an alliance of jihadist groups known as Tahrir al Sham.
Their military chief, the former al Qaeda leader in Syria, Abu Mohammad al Golani, had vowed more attacks after claiming multiple suicide attacks in the city of Homs last month.
