The talks took place on Jan 23-24 in Rixon Hotel in the Kazakhstan’s capital city and included the representatives of Syria, Iran, Turkey, Russia, US ambassador, UN, Syrian opposition and various groups considered by the official Damascus to be terrorist formations (for example, Jaish al Islam).

These talks was the first time the sides of conflict and mediators met since the crisis started. Notably, the opposition didn’t demand the resign of Syria’s president Bashar Assad.

The talks resulted in Turkey, Iran and Russia’s decision to ‘enforce’ the ceasefire and all sides agreed to fight against ISIS and al Nusra Front.
